- Selena wax figure coming to Madame Tussauds Orlando
- Will be on display for limited time starting Feb. 13
- Fans can enter for a chance to attend welcoming ceremony
From Feb. 13 to April 8, fans can catch a glimpse of the “Queen of Tejano” figure at the International Drive attraction.
Madame Tussauds worked with the Quintanilla family and the Selena Museum to replicate the late singer’s pose, expression and outfit from her 1993 performance at the Memorial Coliseum in Corpus Christi, Texas. The music from the concert was used for the “Selena Live!” album, which won a Grammy for Mexican/American album in 1994.
Selena died after a shooting in 1995. To date, 70 million of her albums have sold worldwide.
The wax figure’s appearance in Orlando is part of a six-week celebration where fans can share their love for the music icon.
“Our family is excited that Selena fans in Orlando will have a chance to see this beautiful wax figure in person, said Suzette Quintanilla, Selena’s sister. “We are thrilled to continue to work with Madame Tussauds to celebrate her legacy with fans from all around the world.”
Fans are being offered the chance to attend the official welcoming ceremony for the figure next month.
To enter the contest, fans should share clips of themselves singing Selena songs on Instagram using the hashtag #LoveSelenaOrlando. Two Madame Tussauds Orlando tickets will be given to the winners.
This will be the first time the Selena figure has ever appeared in Florida.
